Trying out Google Ajax API

Tinkering around the Google Code Playground for some tricks and ideas. I'm considering adding Friends Connect elements and some other funky stuff.

Changing Categories

Finding the line up is limited to alphabetical order.

Trying Again, Now This is Beyonce

There is no sleeping tonight, well we'll see.

Blogging From the Player

This is a neat feature for music fans who want to add videos to their blog. I'm working on adding to social networks. It's going to be a long day. At least I have beyonce to entertain me/us. Enjoy!

Mashing Up Content from SonyBMG, Brightcove Player and Google Ajax API

I'm start with Brightcove Player, and some music from Brandy. http://www.mpelembe.net/Brandy-right-here.html

I'm now done with the video player. This one does not require much work, all that was needed was an API key from SonyMBG. Here is the player featuring 20 the hottest current videos from SonyBMG. Watch and enjoy http://www.mpelembe.net/latest-sonybmg.html!

Registration

I arrived the Guardian Offices for the Music Hack Day. Registration was smooth and the wi fi is pretty good. A nice start to the day. Opening speeches and introductions and more coffees.

Glad this blog is topping Bing results for Music Hack Day.

About half the attendees are here now.

Dave Haynes from Soundcloud explaining the purpose for this event. The old school music experts want to meet with developers and brainstorm over issues challenging the music industry.

7digital one of the companies representatives has openened up their API today. BBC Music is also looking for innovative solutions for their vast music and programmes data. Echonest a music intelligence company specialising in analysis and remixes has several feeds for various categories. Also, Echonest has developer APIs in each category.

More details about companies running workshops can be found by joining the google group http://groups.google.com/group/musichackday. Updates on how to get APIs keys will posted the group.

Music Hack Day

The Music Hack Day is an event for the international tech and digital music community taking place in London this weekend (July 11 to 12).

This hack day involves a number of invited attendees creating new Web applications in a 24-hour timeframe using digital companies' APIs (Application Programming Interface) or open source libraries.

BBC Music, SoundCloud, Last.fm, RjDj, Songkick, Echonest, Gigulate and People's Music Store are among the companies taking part in the event. Representatives from several major labels will be in attendance as well.

I will be attending as a developer. Also attending this Music Hack Day are leading international web developers, hackers and invited journalists. The event will be held at the London offices of British daily newspaper the Guardian, who recently launched their own open platform for developers.
